The concept for this piece was inspired by the theme of the Ballina Fringe Festival’s ope call, “Unity by Place.” Intrigued by the diversity of populations in Irish towns and cities, so the exploration the shared traditions and rituals across different cultures.

One ritual that is shared is tea culture, offering someone a cup of tea is a universal gesture of welcome and hospitality. Sharing a cup of tea is a moment of connection, a small offering that can start a conversation, or a story shared.

While every culture has its own unique rituals around how tea is made and enjoyed, the underlying sentiment remains the same, taking time for another person, or even for yourself.
